The late Bill Stuart-Whistler, dear friend of Brandywine, actually witnessed early U.S. H-Bomb tests in the South Pacific, designed the antennae for the Minuteman intercontinenal ballistic missile, was part of the Brandywine Peace Community's earliest foundation, and resigned from General Electric in protest of GE's nuclear weapons work. Bill often participated in demonstrations at the nuclear weapons test site in Nevada.

General Electric in 1993 sold its Aerospace Division to Martin Marietta which in 1995 lead to the merger of Lockheed and Martin Marietta, to become Lockheed Martin.
